NBA -- Warriors take 2-1 lead over Nuggets (Photos) By Ryan Medida PhilBoxing.com Sun, 28 Apr 2013 ![]() OAKLAND -- In a battle of point guards at Oracle Arena Friday night, Ty Lawson led the Nuggets with a game high 35 points and 10 dimes but Stephen Curry had 29 points and 11 assists as the Golden State Warriors defended their homecourt and took Game 3 of the best-of-7 series, 110-108. Playing with a sprained left ankle, Curry has the Warriors on firm footing in the playoffs leading the Nuggets 2 to 1. "It feels good. I?m just thankful to be able to get through the game without having any incidents so I?ll continue my treatment and hopefully it will feel even better come Sunday,? Curry said during the post-game press conference. After a record setting performance Tuesday night at Pepsi Arena in Denver, shooting 64.6 percent -- the highest in an NBA playoffs game in 22 years, Golden State Warriors came up with another gem performance in front of a buzzing 19, 596 Warriors faithful, who mostly wore a gold shirt that read "We are Warriors" on the front. The fans were so loud that even players had a hard time hearing whistles. Jarrett Jack said on his ipost game interview "I've never seen anything like it". The Warriors outshot the Nuggets 52.5 percent to 46.5 percent and won the rebounding battle for the third straight game, 42 - 34. Jarrett Jack added 23 points and seven assists and Harrison Barnes and Carl Landry each scored 19 points to help the Warriors rally from 13 points down in the early third quarter. Golden State coach Mark Jackson said on being a young team during the post game interview "We never lost it. We struggled, we?re a young basketball team and we certainly struggled. We lost five or six in a row. One thing I did after losing six in a row is I had my video guys take each player and ask them about making the playoffs and being successful. Because it?s easier to answer that question after winning six or seven in a row, but not when you?re facing adversity. We struggled at times, but we?re a team that works extremely hard, we?re tied together, we compete, and we?re a defensive minded team. When you make defense your primary focus, you?re going to be in ball games. That?s what happened, especially in that second half which was a thing of beauty. We gave up 42 second half points because we locked in and we competed.? Kenneth Faried finished with 15 points, 7 boards while Corey Brewer contributed 16 points as the Denver dropped their second straight game. ?We?re ready for war, man,? Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson said. ?This place is crazy with their fans. They?re going go be ready to try to go up 3-1 on us next game. We?re ready for war, at least I know I am. Next game?s a big game and everybody has to be ready.? On Sunday, Denver Nuggets are looking to even the series before heading back to Mile high.
