Results from Muntinlupa City: Pumicpic and Concepcion successful against Indonesian foes By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Mon, 22 Apr 2013 Filipino boxers Richard Pumicpic (12-5-2, 4 KOs) and returning Bernabe ?Abe? Concepcion (32-6-1, 18 KOs) both emerged victorious over their respective Indonesian counterparts in Sunday?s boxing card in Muntinlupa City. Pumicpic successfully defended his WBC Youth bantamweight title by a Unanimous Decision win in 10 rounds over Junior Bajawa (14,2,7 KOs) of Subaraya, Indonesia. Pumicpic and Bajawa engaged in ten rounds of fierce battle as the headliner for last night?s event at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex in Tunasan, Muntinlupa City. The Indon fighter gave the Filipino titlist all he can handle in a crowd pleasing fight according to the event?s promoter, Anson Tiu Co. Pumicpic reigned in the judges? cards with scores of 99-91, 98-92 and another 98-92 card. ?Although Richard won by UD, I can see that he will learn a lot from this match,? stated Tiu Co. In the co-feature of the night, Bernabe ?Abe? Concepcion defeated his Indonesian opponent, Boido Simanjuntak (16-18-15 KOs) via TKO in the 7th round. Simanjuntak, nicknamed ?The Bulldozer? lived up to his moniker against the former featherweight challenger by pressuring him all night. ?Even after absorbing uppercuts, hooks and straights to the head, with wobbly legs and all, he still kept putting the heat on Abe,? reported Tiu Co. But Simanjuntak?s aggression ended in the 7th round when the physician at ringside declared him unfit to continue because he has absorbed numerous hits to his head. The win was the second straight for Concepcion in local soil, after an unsuccessful campaign overseas. His last defeat was a TKO loss to now Featherweight champ, Mikey Garcia last year. The boxing event will be televised over TV network GMA next week as per Tiu Co. You can reach the author at rrmaze24@aol.com and at Twitter @Freemazon910.
