DONAIRE VOWS TO SHUT RIGONDEAUX'S MOUTH AND KNOCK HIM OUT By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 22 Mar 2013 WBO/Ring Magazine and WBC Diamond Belt super bantamweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire is unfazed by the statements of WBA champion Guillermo Rigondeaux who claimed in an interview with Zone Radio that the four division world champion ?faced a group of dead men and I?m able to knock out all of them in one day.? The two-time former Cuban Olympic gold medalist said Donaire ?will be surprised. I?m going to take him into deep water and then I?ll sink the boat. He (Donaire) talks about his speed but he still doesn?t know how to slow down my speed.? Donaire, in an interview with the Manila Standard said Rigondeaux ?is always shooting his mouth off. I?m going to shut his mouth and knock him out.? He made it clear that the WBA champion?s statements ?don?t bother me. I?m training hard and will just be ready for the fight? which takes place at the Radio City Music Hall in New York on April 13 and will be telecast in the Philippines over the giant broadcast network ABS-CBN and The Filipino Channel which has a huge following especially in the Middle East. The 2012 ?Fighter of the Year? of the prestigious Boxing Writers Association of America, Ring, ESPN, Yahoo and boxing scene.com among others, Donaire who is coming off a 3rd round demolition of Mexican warrior Jorge ?Travieso? Arce last November at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas said he?s been ?training very, very hard and we are really good.? Asked about his well-known nutritionist and anti-doping advocate Victor Conte and renowned track coach Remy Korchemny leaving him, Donaire replied ?we just decided to go our separate ways. No problems. It?s the thing they chose to do? which Conte clarified was entirely his decision. Donaire said strength and conditioning coach Mike Bazzel and Brian Schwartz are still with Team Donaire and are ?doing an excellent job with me.? This was confirmed by Donaire?s trainer Robert Garcia who told Luis Sandoval of boxingscene.com that Bazzel and Schwartz had ?always done a tremendous job and I have no worries with him (Donaire?s) training" even as he indicated he would join Donaire?s training camp in the last two weeks after another of his fighters Brandon ?Bam Bam? Rios? rematch with Mike Alvarado. Garcia said that Donaire ?trains harder and harder as he faces bigger opponents and bigger names. He is training harder than the previous one (with Arce).? Donaire himself told the Standard that he trains three times a day beginning at 4:00 a.m. when he does his jogging and track work, in the Undisputed Gym in San Carlos City in the afternoon and also night-time workouts that approximate the time at which the fight will take place.
