NBA -- Kings rain 14 triples, shock Clippers
By Doreen Mendez PhilBoxing.com Thu, 21 Mar 2013

SAN JOSE -- The Sacramento Kings dialed long distance and connected 14 of 28 triples en route to a stunning 116-101 upset over the visiting Los Angeles Clippers Tuesday night at the Sleep Train Arena.
Reserves Marcus Thornton and Tony Douglas provided the spark the Kings needed to break away from a close game, blowing the Clippers with a 38-point fourth quarter. Thornton made six triples for 25 points while Douglas had 17 of hid 19 points in the final period, including three 3-point shots.
"It felt good. It would have been just as good if somebody else would hit them, as long as we win. If we win, I'm happy," Douglas told NBA.com of his outburst, which turned a close game -- 86-all with still 8:25 to go -- into a rout.
Kings center DeMarcus Cousins played only 27 minutes while returning from a thigh injury, but he was still able to do considerable damage with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Tyreke Evans also had 17 and five assists while Patrick Patterson added 13.
All-Star power forward Blake Griffin had 26 points, four rebounds and five assists for the Clippers, who led 83-78 entering the fourth quarter. Super sub Jamal Crawford had another stellar effort with 25 points but All-Star point guard Chris Paul, who passed out 15 assists, was held to 11 points on 2-for-10 shooting.
The loss against a Kings team that had won only 24 of 68 contests was especially devastating for the Clippers, who dropped to 46-22 in the extremely tough Western Conference standings. (DM)
Blake Griffin's ferocious dunk is just one of the many highlights in the Sacramento Kings' stunning 116-101 upset over the Los Angeles Clippers at the Sleep Train Arena.
