NBA - Warriors thrash Rockets in Houston
By Doreen Mendez PhilBoxing.com Tue, 19 Mar 2013

SAN JOSE -- The Golden State Warriors have struggled on the road of late, winning just twice in their last 11 tries, but they played surprisingly well away from home Sunday night and completely demolished the Houston Rockets, 108-78, at the Toyota Center.
Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 29 points and 11 assists, which was no surprise considering how the ace point guard has consistently led Golden State throughout the season. Curry''s backcourt tandem, Klay Thompson, also had a stellar performance, finishing with 26 points and four rebounds while center Andrew Bogut had a nice double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Rockets guard James Harden came two assists short of a triple-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, while his sidekick, Jeremy Lin, finished with 21 points and four assists on 9-for-16 shooting. Those efforts, however, were not enough as the Rockets converted only 28 of 86 field goals and just nine of 35 threes.
It was a much needed victory for the Warriors, who have gone just 5-5 in their last 10 games, including a 113-95 beating at the hands of the Chicago Bulls last Friday at the Oracle Arena in Oakland. At 38-30, Golden State is currently ranked No.6 in the Western Conference, but they are being stalked by the 36-31 Rockets, who are at No.7, and the 36-32 L.A. Lakers, who are clinging to the No.8 spot.
The Rockets are idle on Monday night's schedule but the Warriors hope to separate themselves from a crowded pack when they take on the New Orleans Hornets at the New Orleans Arena. (DM)
