NBA -- Warriors easily dispose visiting Pistons
By Ryan Medida PhilBoxing.com Fri, 15 Mar 2013

SAN FRANCISCO -- With hotshot Stephen Curry scoring 31 points and All-Star David Lee adding 20 and 15 rebounds, the Golden State Warriors handled the Detroit Pistons, 105-97, Wednesday night at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
Curry hit 11 of 17 field goals, including 5-for-7 from above the 3-point arc. He also had eight assists and two rebounds. Lee, on the other hand, made 9-of-13 shots and added five rebounds to his haul as the Warriors bumped their record to 37-29, which is good for 6th place in the Western Conference and a full three games ahead of the surging 34-32 Los Angeles Lakers, who currently holds the 8th and last playoffs berth.
Despite playing without the injured Brandon Knight (sprained ankle), the team's second leading scorer, the Pistons made it a close game, trailing only by seven - 80-73 - entering the fourth quarter after a sloppy start. But the Warriors wouldn't budge, and when point guard Jarrett Jack nailed two free throws with 4:27 to go, Golden State was safely ahead, 96-86.
Jack finished with 19 while Harrison Barnes added 13. Klay Thompson tallied a modest 10 while Andrew Bogut pulled down 10 rebounds for the Warriors' well-balanced attack.
Detroit got 22 points and five assists from point guard Rodney Stuckey while forward Kyle Singler added 17. Will Bynum finished with 16 and Jason Maxiell grabbed 14 rebounds to go with eight points for the Pistons, who made only 40 of 89 field goals and 5-of-7 from three-point range.
Out of the playoffs running and 12th overall in the Eastern Conference, the Pistons upped their slate to 23-44. (RSM)
