NBA -- Warriors humiliate sloppy Knicks
By Reynaldo Seno PhilBoxing.com Wed, 13 Mar 2013
NEW YORK -- The Golden State Warriors love to beat up opponents visiting their home floor. And when they slapped New York silly Monday night at the Oracle Arena, the sloppy Knicks gladly turned the other cheek.
Golden State's dynamic backcourt tandem of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson drilled 10 triples and combined for a total of 49 points. All-Star David Lee added 21 points and 11 rebounds and it was more than enough to bury the Knicks beneath the rubble of a 92-63 smackdown.
After a three-game absence, Carmelo Anthony returned to action. But the Knicks' captain was lathered in rust, missing 11 of 15 field goals for a quiet 14 points and 10 rebounds. Raymond Felton added 10 points and five assists, but no other Knick scored in double figures as New York made only 20 of 73 shots, including a hideous 5-for-27 clip from three point range.
Besides being out rebounded 59-42, the Knicks were pitifully short in the assists battle, 16-12. And though New York had one less turnover at 13, it committed more fouls, 27-25.
The Warriors, who shot 41 percent from the field and 55 percent from 3-point range, improved to 36-29. They are still ranked No.6 in the Western Conference and trying to ward off the 34-20 Houston Rockets, who are nestled at No.7.
The Knicks dropped to 38-23, No.2 in the Eastern Conference.(RYS)
