NBA - Williams scores 33, Nets snap 2-game slide By Rajah Allarey PhilBoxing.com Thu, 28 Feb 2013 ![]() JERSEY CITY. Deron Williams scored 11 of his 33 points in the final 1:24 of play and the Brooklyn Nets snapped a two-game losing streak with a hard-earned 101-97 win over the New Orleans Hornets Tuesday night at the New Orleans Arena. Williams' heroics came just in time to rescue the Nets, who blew a 51-29 lead with 4:24 left in the second quarter. The All-Star guard drilled 10 of 21 field goals and 9-of- 10 free throws, including six in that game-saving stretch. He also had eight assists. Keith Bogans, a former Chicago Bull, sank all of his 3s for 12 points and C.J. Watson, also an former Bull, registered ten for the Nets, who shot 48.7 percent from the field and a high 60 percent from three-point range. "It feels good to get it going, especially down the stretch and be able to close out a game. It's something I've kind of struggled with this year and I was successful at it most of my career so it feels good to be able to finally have a game like that," Williams told NBA.com In a match-up that was highlighted by a center showdown between 7-foot twin brothers --- Brook and Robin Lopez, --- Brook, an All-Star this year, showed more might with 20 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four shotblocks. Brook also swished a running lay-up that pushed Brooklyn ahead, 88-82, with only 2:18 remaining in the fourth quarter. Robin finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. Point guard Greivis Vasquez carried much of the Hornets' offensive load with 20 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, but a 22-point hole was simply too much to overcome even though Ryan Anderson chipped in 13 points and Eric Gordon added 10. A frustrated Hornets coach, Monty Williams, voiced his disappointment after New Orleans dropped to 20-38, "If we want fans to come out and support us the way most teams in the NBA do, we have to bring the energy and effort because we don't have the talent at every position."
