NBA -- Grizzlies take a bite out of the Nets in Brooklyn By Rajah Allarey PhilBoxing.com Tue, 26 Feb 2013 ![]() JERSEY CITY. In a less than spectacular game where both teams struggled to put the ball in the hoop,, the Memphis Grizzlies made enough plays down the stretch to edge the Brooklyn Nets, 76-72, Sunday afternoon at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Memphis guard Tony Allen broke a 72-72 deadlock with a pair of free throws, and following a turnover by Nets point guard Deron Williams on the other end, Mike Conley added two more insurance free throws to settle the score with 8.2 seconds remaining. It was a rocky road to victory for the 37-18 Grizzlies, who were pounded off the boards, 44-35, and managed to make just 32 of 71 field goals. But like they have all done season long, Memphis' twin towers -- 7-foot-Marc Gasol and 6-foot-9 Zach Randolph -- imposed their might in the low post and dominated with a combined 30 points and 21 rebounds. The center-power forward tandem also produced five assists and six shot blocks. Williams led the Nets with 24 points and four assists but All-Star center Brook Lopez was held to nine points and four rebounds while missing seven of 10 field goals. C.J. Watson finished with 11 and Andre Blatche added 10 more for Brooklyn, which connected only 29 of 77 shots for 37.7 percent. "It's frustrating. But I can't really control the no-calls or calls or anything like that. I can control that I turned the ball over the next play, which is even more frustrating," Williams told the New York Times as he tried to explain the final 26.9 seconds of play where a contrversial no-call was made as he drove to the basket. With the defeat, the Nets full to 33-24 for second place in the Atlantic Division behind the 33-20 New York Knicks.
