Lakers Continue Uphill Climb to Playoffs Against Celtics By Chad Cañares PhilBoxing.com Wed, 20 Feb 2013 The loaded but struggling Los Angeles Lakers start the second half of their disappointing 2012-2013 NBA season against their long time rivals the Boston Celtics on Wednesday February 20, 2013 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, C.A., U.S.A. The Laker team made the most noise before the start of this year's NBA campaign with high profile acquisitions in two time league MVP Steve Nash, Dwight Howard and Antoine Jamison and were pinned to command the league in terms of winning games even before the season started. To everyone's surprise, for the team that had multiple championships in mind, they have been anything but the dominant force they are on paper. Even a coaching change early in the season has had very little impact in terms of coming up with wins for the Hollywood squad wherein they currently are under the .500 mark with 25 wins against 29 losses to finish the first half of their season. The once mighty Showtime squad is now in danger of not making the playoffs for the first time in decades. It will be an uphill battle for the once mighty Lakers that is currently led by slowly aging 5 time champion Kobe Bryant. A consistent and cohesive effort from the rest of the team is more than required should they aspire to keep their playoff hopes alive this season and what better team to test the Lakers' resolve than face their long time rivals Celtics. A win is also important for the Bryant led team as they have recently yielded to the Celtics during their last meeting weeks back. After the Celtics, the Lakers will be hosting the Portland Trailblazers on Friday the 22nd before going to a 2 game road trip to Dallas and Denver on the 24th and 25th respectively. Chad E.
