NBA -- Bulls prep for Pistons, shoot for mini streak
By Alex Gardunio PhilBoxing.com Thu, 24 Jan 2013

Bulls-Pistons Preview:
Coming off a stellar defensive performance Monday against the slumping Lakers, The Chicago Bulls look to continue their tempo against the Detroit Pistons at the United Center Wednesday. Winning seven of their last 10, Chicago has kept a hot hand offensively averaging almost 5 points per game above their season average while their defense continues to stifle the opposing offense as they rank 3rd in points against per game.
Jimmy Butler put a stop to Kobe Bryant and his league high 29.2 points per game by holding him to just 16 points on 7-22 shooting and looks to keep up the intensity heading to Detroit.
The Bulls continue to average 43.7 rebounds per game and they are going to need every one of those as the Pistons are close on their heels averaging only .1 less per game. Detroit will be coming off a 105-90 win over the Orlando Magic.
On paper this should be a matchup of great defenses but their records seem to show Chicago being a more opportunistic club sitting eight games above .500 while Detroit sits at lowly nine games under .500. The Pistons will be coming off back to back home wins as they travel to Chicago in hopes to make it 3 straight.
Chicago will be without their star Derrick as Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said Derrick took "the next step" in his return from knee surgery by taking more contact in practice on Tuesday. On top of Rose being out still, Luol Deng (hamstring) did not practice Tuesday and will be a game time decision come Wednesday against Detroit.
