SACRAMENTO -- The New Orleans Hornets dropped 64 first-half points and used an early 25-point lead to propel them to a 114-105 victory over the visting Sacramento Kings at the New Orleans Arena.
Playing on Monday afternoon on Martin Luther King Day, the Hornets got unexpected eruption from reserve Ryan Anderson, who finished with 27 points by making 10 of his 22 shots. Anderson, who sank seven of 14 triples, also added six rebounds and a pair of assists to his major haul.
"I think I'm going to have a good shooting night every night. When you're in the moment and just ready to shoot, you're not really thinking. I got some great some open looks, and most of them were on the fast break," a pumped up Anderson told NBA.com.
Anderson, a Sacramento native, also commented on the news of the Kings impending sale to a Seattle group. "It's hard. I can't imagine a team not being there," he said.
The 14-27 Hornets, winners of seven of their last 10 games, shot a high 48.3 percent from the field and got another sterling performance from point guard Greivis Vasquez, who tallied 19 points and 11 assists. Aminu Al-Farouq chipped in 14.
Center DeMarcus Cousins paced the Kings with 29 points and 13 rebounds while Isaiah Thomas contributed 20. Tyreke Evans chalked 16.
The Kings, who shot 46.9 percent from the field, dropped to 16-26. (AMJR)
