Drian Francisco withdraws from New York bout By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Wed, 02 Jan 2013 The New York City appearance this month of Drian ?Gintong Kamao? Francisco is on hold for now. The heavy handed boxer from Sablayan, Mindoro elected not to pursue his proposed fight on January 19th because of pressing family matters. His manager, Elmer Anuran informed Philboxing.com that ?Drian requested to stay with his wife until she gives birth, He asked me to move the date of his next fight.? Francisco and wife Jessebel is expecting the birth of their third child anytime soon and the 30 year old boxer decided to be with her and their two other children at this time in their home province of Mindoro. Mrs. Francisco is expected to deliver the newest addition to their family within the dates from January 20 to February 3, according to the boxer who spoke to Philboxing.com. Francisco felt that being away from his family during his wife?s last term of pregnancy will not do him any good while training in the U.S. for his proposed appearance in the undercard of Orlando Salido versus Mikey Garcia at the Theatre of Madison square Garden. ?Nagpa-extend ako, hindi muna ako lalaban kasi si Sabel, manganganak.? (I ask that my vacation be extended and not fight yet, because Sabel is giving birth.) said Francisco. ?Tapusin ko muna, para pagpunta ko diyan (U.S.A.) kahit na sabihing tatlong laban at mag-stay ako ay walang problema.? (I want to attend to this first, so there won?t be a problem if I go there (U.S.A.) to train and even if they asked me to stay longer for three fights or so.) added Francisco. Francisco also said that his visa to enter the United States expired and that presented another issue for him to return to train in the United States. Francisco emerged from a 5th round TKO victory over Javier Gallo of Mexico last November 17th in the undercard of Brian Viloria and Hernan Marquez in Los Angeles. He trains under former heavyweight contender turned trainer, Justine Fortune in Fortune?s gym in the same city. The heavy handed fighter assured the public that he will make sure that he will prepare for his next fight after attending to his personal matters at home. ?Paghahandaan ko talaga iyung susunod na laban. Kailangan natin masundan uli ng isang impressive na panalo uli.? (I will really prepare for the next fight. I wanted to give them another impressive win.) said the fighter. (I lack preparation (for the January 19th fight), because I spent time with the family during Christmas and New Year. I wanted to make sure that when I come back there (U.S.A.), my mind is set for fighting.) Francisco explained. The 24-1 (19 KO) fighter also stated that he has been training and sparring in his province of Mindoro during his vacation but stopped it before Christmas. Francisco is intent in resuming his training soon and plans to travel to nearby Lipa, Batangas where there is an abundance of sparring partners.
