NBA -- Even scoring power Kings past Celtics, 118-96 By Alberto G. Montefalcon, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Mon, 31 Dec 2012 ![]() Playing minus their leader Tyreke Evans and steady point guard Aaron Brooks, the Sacramento Kings relied on patiently running their half-court plays and solid rebounding, to take their fourth straight home win, with a 118-96 whipping of the Boston Celtics. The smallest man on the court, Isaiah Thomas, played big, leading all scorers with 27 points. He was brilliant all around the court, driving his way towards the basket almost at will, while dishing out 5 assists and pulling down 4 rebounds. John Salmons and Jason Thompson scored personal season-high outputs of 23 and 20 points, respectively. Two other players finished in double digits for the Kings, making themselves extremely tough to figure out for the Celtics defense. The Kings soared early, leading as much as 10 points, 18-8 with 3:50 remaining in the first quarter off a Thomas lay-up, only to relinquish the upper hand at the 10:25 mark of second canto, with two free throws from Celtic forward, Jeff Green. Green scored 14 of his 16-point output in the first half, coming off the bench. Off-season acquisition, Jason Terry, showed that he has found his spot in the Celtics offensive rotation, with crisp shooting from the outside and engaging Salmons in a three-point shootout that showed the score seesaw to a halftime halt at 54-49, in favor of the Kings. Salmons continued the onslaught into the third quarter, conspiring with Marcus Thornton to build a 65-57 cushion before back-to-back triples from all-star Paul Pierce placed the Celtics within striking distance. That was however the closest that the Celtics got as the Kings pulled away in the fourth, owing to De Marcus Cousins timely assists that resulted in 5 three-point shots for the Kings, earning for himself the first triple-double performance of his career with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. The Kings also outrebounded the Celtics 45-36, 35-25 on the defensive end. Pierce and Terry led Celtics? losing cause with 20 points apiece. Kevin Garnet chipped in 16 points for the Celtics, who has already lost 7 out of their last 9 games. Sacramento moves up to an 11-19 win-loss slate to keep their flickering playoffs hope alive.
