Knicks survive Cavs onslaught at the Garden By Reynaldo Seno PhilBoxing.com Sun, 16 Dec 2012 ![]() NEW YORK - These days, Dr. No had a better of chance breaking into Fort Knox than opposing teams penetrating Knick defense at the Garden. Shorthanded and coming off a tight December schedule, the Knicks faced the grim possibility of losing that immaculate record at home when the Cavs rolled into town. The game started with newcomer Chris Copeland at power forward in lieu of the injured Carmelo Anthony, and did a decent job scoring a total of 11 points sinking 2 of his 3 attempts from the 3 point zone. But it was the duo of Raymond Felton and Tyson Chandler who abused the Cavs defense with a bunch of well executed pick and rolls, finishing the game with 25 and 23 points respectively. Already shorthanded with Amare Studemire and Iman Shumpert on the injured list, the Knicks also were without able back-up Rasheed Wallace but the rest of the Knicks bench came up big with JR Smith coming off the bench with 16 points followed by Steve Novak?s 13 points, going 4 out of 7 from behind the 3 point line. The reliable Jason Kidd also chipped in nine points and eight assists, a couple of which were will timed alley-oop passes with Chandler at the receiving end. Kidd missed a double-double night by this much. The Cavaliers gave the Knicks a handful late in the fourth quarter, behind point guard Kyrie Irving?s 41 points but their effort came up short as only CJ Miles and Tristan Thompson scored in double figures for the Cavs, with 17 and 10 points respectively. With the score at 101-102, the Cavs fouled sharpshooter Steve Novak who sank one of two from the charity lane but Cavs center Anderson Varejao, who was also fouled at the other end, missed a game tying free throw also going one of two preserving the Knicks 103-102 win. With their win over the Cavs the Knicks stay atop the Eastern Conference at 18-5 at the same time keeping their immaculate record at home unblemished at 10-0.
