NBA - THUNDER ROLLS OVER NETS
By Reynaldo Seno PhilBoxing.com Thu, 06 Dec 2012
Two elite point guards of the league, team mates in the latest edition of the Dream Team, starred in a highly anticipated match-up, and at the end of the day both did not disappoint. Brooklyn Nets court general Deron Williams quarterbacked his team to a season high 33 points, four rebounds and at the same time handing outs seven assists. The Thunder?s Russell Westbrook, on the other hand, had 25 points, four rebounds along with nine assists to back stop Kevin Durant?s 32 points, five rebounds and six assists.
But it was Westbrook's Thunder that came out on top after the final buzzer, beating Williams' Nets, 117-111 at Nets' homecourt at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY Tuesday.
With the absence of starting center Brook Lopez, Andre Blanche chipped in 19 points and grabbed a total of eleven rebounds. But it was Gerald Wallace, known for his defensive prowess, who kept the Nets in the game with his 3 point shooting converting 4 out of 7 from behind the 3 point arc.
Joe Johnson and Chris Humphries backed up Deron Williams? offensive show scoring 17 and 12 points respectively.
But with the able support of their bench there was just no stopping the Thunder, not on this night, not against this shorthanded Nets, Tabu Sefolosha added 14 points with Serge Ibaka notching 18 points along with six rebounds.
With this loss, the Nets fell a game and a half behind the Knicks atop the Atlantic Division who are currently sporting an 12-4 record.
