BIADO, YAPP, AND DUONG POWER TEAM ASIA TO THE BRINK OF GLORY

PhilBoxing.com

Team Asia moved within touching distance of defending their crown on Day Three, with standout performances from Carlo Biado, Aloysius Yapp, and Duong Quoc Hoang pushing the defending champions to a near-unassailable 9–1 lead over Team Rest of the World.

The 2025 LiveSB.io Reyes Cup is set to ignite the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila from October 16–19, as Team Asia defends their crown in an event staged in partnership with Puyat Sports and broadcast globally via Sky Sports, One Sport, and WNT TV.

Result on Day Three
Team Asia 9 – 1 Team Rest of the World

With only two points needed to complete their title defence, World Champion Carlo Biado reflected on Team Asia’s remarkable campaign so far: “I’m so proud of this team. None of us expected to be this dominant, but the chemistry and energy we’ve had all week has been incredible. Everyone’s lifting each other up — that’s the secret to our success. We’ve shown the world what Asian pool is all about, and tomorrow, we plan to conquer it.”

Match Eight
Team Rest of the World 5 – 4 Team Asia

Team Rest of the World finally broke their drought in the opening match of Day Three. Woodward and Gorst raced ahead early, but Biado and Yapp fought back to level the score. The match went hill-hill, with both sides trading blows until Moritz Neuhausen held his nerve in the decider to deliver the visitors their first point of the event.

Match Nine
Duong Quoc Hoang 5 – 1 Skyler Woodward

Vietnam’s Duong Quoc Hoang, known as “The Martian,” produced a stunning performance in his first singles appearance. Despite Woodward taking the opener, Duong seized full control with clinical shot-making and fierce safety play to win five racks in a row and restore Asia’s momentum.

Duong reflected: “Even though we were leading, the pressure was still there. I didn’t start great, but I stayed calm and trusted my game. Winning this point means a lot to me — and to all of Team Asia. We’re here to win every rack, not just the event.”

Match Ten
Aloysius Yapp & Carlo Biado 5 – 0 Francisco Sanchez Ruiz & Moritz Neuhausen

Yapp and Biado closed out the day in emphatic fashion, dismantling the European pair of Ruiz and Neuhausen in a one-sided whitewash. The duo combined precision with power to mirror the dominance that has defined Team Asia’s campaign from days one and two.

Yapp commented: “Carlo was unbelievable out there — you can see why he’s a world champion. I left some tough shots for him, but he saved me every time. We know we’re close, but we can’t take anything for granted. We’ll reset tonight and aim to finish strong tomorrow.”

With Team Asia holding a near-unassailable 9–1 lead, the defending champions stand just two points away from sealing back-to-back Reyes Cup victories — leaving Team Rest of the World with little room for miracles heading into the final day in Manila.
