PACQUIAO NEARS PEAK FORM

MANILA (PNA) - Three days before lowering the curtains of his Los Angeles training camp before clashing with Juan Manuel Marquez, Manny Pacquiao pronounced that he is ready to mix it up and settle the unfinished business.

?I?m ready. Almost, that is,? Pacquiao told People?s Journal in an overseas telephone conversation Monday night (Tuesday in Manila) following another tough grind at Freddie Roach's Wild Card Gym. ?Konting kuntil-butil na lang ang dapat gawin at puede nang umakyat sa ring.?

?Small adjustments here and a little adjustments there in terms of conditioning which the training staff and myself will have to address before we drive to Las Vegas and it?s go as far as myself is concerned,? Pacquiao, who was to fetch wife Jinkee at the airport later in the day said.

?Mas inspirado nga akong mag-ensayo lalo ngayon na nandito na si Jinkee para suportahan ako,? Pacquiao said with giggle. ?Alam mo naman tayong mga Pilipino, we draw half of our strength from the people nearest to our hearts.?

Jinkee, in a separate interview, she could have been at his husband?s side earlier, but had to insure first that everything will be okay as far as the family is concerned, especially their four children, before leaving the country.

?Gusto nga ng mga bata sumama, pero me school pa eh. Pero ayos na naman ang lahat ng mga pangangailangan nila bago ako umalis,? Jinkee said in reference to siblings Michael, Jimwel, Princess and Queenie. ?Lahat naman sila ipinagdadasal ang Daddy nila na hindi masaktn mula noong magsimula ang training at manalo sa laban.?

Saturday will be the last day of the LA camp before rest day on Sunday. Monday, Team Pacquiao is scheduled to motor to Las Vegas in time for the arrival ceremony scheduled Tuesday at the lobby of the MGM Grand.

Pacquiao and Marquez battle anew for the fourth time on December 8 (December 9 in Manila) at the MGM Grand Arena in the world?s ?sin city? in a 12-round collision that is hoped to solve the puzzle of doubts that punctuated their three previous meetings where the eight-division belt-holder owns a 2-0-1 win-loss-draw slate.

?I would have wanted to tell I can fight today or tomorrow as I usually did to my media friends, pero huwag muna. Firsts, baka sabihin nagyayabang tayo, and second, talaga namang me kulang pa ng konti, lalo sa conditioning aspect of preparations,? he reasoned out.

?As both of us, including Marquez himself, have been saying, important ang labang ito na kahit walang nakatayang korona ay nakasalalay kung ano ang mangyayari pang susunod in our respective career. Kaya ingat tayo sa preparasyson. No stone must be left unturned. Everything should be 100 percent on the dot,? Pacquiao, who will turn 34 on December 17, emphasized.
?We both pledged boxing fans to win convincingly, if possible by knockout and as for me, that?s what we ? Freddie and the training staff ? have been preparing for in the past six or seven months since we started preparations,? the Pacman said.

?What I can assure boxing fans, especially our countrymen who have been awaiting this fight that I will be doing my part of making them happy by fighting to the best of my ability, aggressive from bell to bell hanggang matapos ang laban ng ayon sa ating kagustuhan, maaga.?
?Si Freddie, lahat kami, actually ay ginagawang lahat ng paraan para magbigay ng magandang laban at masiyahan ang mga tao,? he said. ? Freddie often breaks whatever we are doing to remind me and give me pointers and correct where I commit mistakes,? he said. ?Masaya kaming lahat sa ginagawa namin at yun naman ang dapat mangyari.?

As scheduled, sparring this week has started to whittle down from 12 rounds last Saturday to only nine last Tuesday. Frequency on the mitts Monday was increased to 13, precisely to make the plans and strategy stick.

Conditioning exercises under coach Alex Ariza were, likewise, expanded for purposes of improving stamina. Roadwork at the Griffith Park in downtown Hollywood remained in a frequency of 30 minutes every morning.
