VILORIA SAYS HE?S READY TO GO By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 05 Nov 2012 WBO flyweight champion Brian Viloria is working on the gameplan for his unification title fight against WBA champion Hernan ?Tyson? Marquez with trainer Freddie Roach and his assistant Marvin Somodio and indicated he is looking forward to a great fight at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles on November 18, Manila Time. Viloria told the Manila Standard that he ?feels like I?m ready to go right now? as he picks up his sparring sessions with southpaw Ray Chacon who fights like ?Tyson? Marquez and Bruno Escalante. The three-time, two division world champion said he is ?very pleased? the way his preparation has been going and that unlike the times he struggled to make weight as a light flyweight, he is far more comfortable now at flyweight and indicated ?I should be on weight by next week.? Viloria said they are ?working on the gameplan with Freddie and Marvin (Somodio)? who used to assist Roach in working with Manny Pacquiao at his Baguio training camp before Pacquiao sent him to Los Angeles to work with Roach who has had nothing but praise for the one-time boxer. Roach told us "he (Marvin) is doing a really good job with Brian and he and Brian get along well so I'm letting Marvin handle the whole training camp and he is doing a great job." Viloria described Somodio as ?a very good kid who listens well and does the punch-mitts very well.? After a recent four-round sparring session marked by some furious exchanges, Chacon said "Brian is good. He is a very talented fighter, very skilled, has a good left hook which I think is dangerous for a southpaw and he has a slick right hand." Chacon has served as sparring partner for several top flight fighters including WBC super bantamweight champion Abner Mares and approximates the style of Marquez. Beltran who handles Marquez said they moved the WBA champion to the camp of trainer Robert Garcia because Marquez ?needed more discipline and I think Garcia is a very good, disciplined coach so he's happy there. He's very pleased and he's going to be doing a lot of good stuff." Roach told the Manila Standard that Viloria "looks great. He is coming off a big knockout in his last fight (against Omar Nino Romero) and he will definitely be ready for 'Tyson' Marquez." Roach said that Marquez likes to come forward and warned that "he is a very good counter-puncher and has knockout power. He is one of those small guys who can knock you out."
