PACQUIAO WELCOMES A MORE AGGRESSIVE MARQUEZ

PhilBoxing.com

MANILA (PNA) - Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao expressed delight in Juan Manuel Marquez? calls for him to train hard as well as the Mexican?s vow to knock him out in the fourth chapter of their storied but otherwise bitter rivalry on December 8 in Las Vegas.

?That?s good news, especially that statement in regards to his promise to knock me out,? Pacquiao exclaimed in Tagalog an overseas telephone call Saturday Night (Sunday morning in Manila). ?Good news because it means he?ll, for once, come out and fight unlike in our previous fights where what he did was to run.?

?Having learned of his message, I?m returning it to him: Let?s come out smokin? and swingin? and delight the crowd the good fight they deserve to see from us but didn?t in our first three meetings.?

?As regards to his advice for me to train hard, well, I have always been training hard in all my fights which, I believe is the main reason why I?m in the position I am right now,? Pacquiao, the only man in universe to win eight world championships in as many weight division who will be 34 nine days after the much-awaited showdown at the MGM Grand Arena, said.

?He (Marquez) knows, based on the way I fought him in those three fights, what kind of a fighter I am and what kind of preparations I have been undergoing,? he remarked. ?In all those fights, I have always been the aggressor, from the opening bell in our first bout where I dropped him to the canvass three times until the 12th round of our last fight.?

?How I wish really that he fulfil his promise to knock me out cold kasi that would also give me the opportunity to finish him off, which I failed to do dahil nga takbo siya nang takbo at ayaw lumaban ng sabayan sa nakaraan naming paghaharap,? Pacquiao reminisced.

Pacquiao said he welcomed the reports coming from the Mexican?s camp for reason that the coming fight would really turn out to be final decision as to the question of who really is the better fighter between them, which, headed, will erase the doubts that accompanied the outcome of their trilogy.

?Ang masasabi ko lang sa kanya, maglaban kami at bigyan ng kasiyahan ang boxing fans. That?s the essence naman ng good fight, di ba? Ang masiyahan ang mga fans at umuwing masaya after the fight,? he reasoned out.

?People are saying that Marquez and I are two of the finest fighters of this generation, well, I say to him, let?s show that by giving fans the fight they really want to see,? he stressed. ?For my part, I have been training in earnest the past month, first in GenSan (his hometown in Genera Santos City) and here in LA.?

?I was told that he has also been preparing hard in Mexico City. Good, then I can say that fans can, finally, get what they deserve in this fight,? he said. ?That having been said, I am inviting all our boxing fans to watch the fight and experience the thrill and excitement in seeing us fight to the finish. That actually is the reason for this so-called Act 4 of our rivalry.?

Pacquiao, meanwhile, capped the first week of his LA camp Saturday at the Wild Card Gym under the watchful eyes of chief trainer Freddie Roach and his assistants Buboy Fernandez, Roger Fernandez, Nonoy Neri and conditioning mentor Alex Ariza.

The first six days of training was confined to roadwork at Griffith Park in Hollywood and gym activities at the Wild Card sweat shop, including sparring session on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with three boxing mates Ray Beltran and Russians Ruslan Provodnikov and Suhrab Shidaev, all welterweight prospects under Roach?s stable.

Tougher grind is expected in the next six days with Roach lining up two more fighters to skirmish with his prized pupil that will include Frank Gomez and, probably, Swedish Patrick Bogere, who will take advantage of a training stint with Pacquiao for his upcoming fight on November 16.
