Sadam Ali: The Fighting Promoter ventures out tonight in front of his hometown fans! By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sun, 28 Oct 2012 New York, NY - Undefeated welterweight and former Olympian Sadam Ali 15-0 (9 KOs) will be wearing two different shoes tonight in front of his hometown fans in Brooklyn. Ali, 24 will fight in the main event of a show he himself put together at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Flatbush Avenue. The 2008 US Olympian will be facing Ronnie Warrior 13-7-1 (4 KOs) of Oklahoma City for the vacant IBO International welterweight title under his newly formed promotional company. Ali who used to be a regular on the cards of New Jersey?s Main Events Promotions, formed World Kid Promotions and tonight?s events in Brooklyn will be the company?s initial offering. ?I never left Main Events. I was just never signed with them. I fought on their cards before. I had a great relationship with them and thank them for all the cards they put me on. I had a great time. Also, I put on good shows. It just did not come to a signing agreement.? Ali told this Philboxing.com scribe. One of the reasons that Ali went on his own is for him to stay busy and not be idle waiting for fights to come by. He expressed excitement on the fight itself and the show that he and his team put in place in his home city of Brooklyn. ?I am very excited. My last fight was in Brooklyn also. It was very loud, very crazy in there. The energy was wild. This time, I say it will be even more. I am excited.? expressed Ali. Ali has been preparing for tonight?s event both as a fighter and promoter, although he admitted that he leaves most of the promotional business to his close associates. His main focus is still to remain undefeated and build his resume to put his name in consideration for a world title shot. ?My future plan(s) is of course to be a world champion. Everybody that box wants to be a world champion. And that is what I?m gonna do. And I just want to show that I?m one of the top contenders.? said Ali. Ali will try to further that goal tonight and more. You can reach the author at rrmaze24@aol.com for any reactions to this piece. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Rich Mazon . |
