THAILAND'S PUNGLUANG SOR SINGYU DEMOLISHES, KNOCKS OUT AJ BANAL (FIGHT PHOTOS)

PhilBoxing.com

MANILA, Philippines - In a bloody non-stop action combat, Thai Pungluang Sor Singyu dramatically knocked out highly regarded Filipino AJ "Bazooka" Banal during the violent action of round 9 to capture the vacant WBO Bantamweight World Title last night (Oct 20) at the new SM Mall of Asia Arena here in Manila, Philippines.

The 23 year-old Banal (24-2, 20KO's) began fast and slick scoring the first two rounds, but the Thai warrior took control of actions by delivering a power combination in round three that stagger Banal and opened a cut on the Filipino's right eye from which he bled through the thrilling battle.

Pungluang made good use of his vicious left jab to set up a dangerous straight right as well as hooks, mainly to the head of the talented ALA Fighter. In response, Banal attempted wild power blows to the mid section of the Thai, but the tries ended as low blows for which third man Tony Weeks penalized Banal with a point deduction.

Throughout the fast-paced rumble, "Bazooka" managed to score good hands on Pungluang, but by far the most vicious blows of the war were delivered by the relentless Pungluang Sor Singyu, 24, who never gave a breather to his Filipino talented opponent.

Nothing seemed to be working out for the Filipino as more Cleto Reyes was being poured down over his head and body in ruthless fashion.

The end came in the ninth stanza when Pungluang brilliantly pinned Banal with a huge combination that sent the already minced Banal to the ropes and down to the canvas, nearly out of the ring. The brave Banal, down on the canvas looking beaten up and bloodied, couldn't stand up as the punishment he absorbed was indeed brutal.

With the big win, Pungluang Sor Singyu, promoted by Ms. Pariyakorn Ratanasuban of Onesongchai Boxing, claimed a world title in his first attempt, achieving the most important victory in his boxing career as well as handing another world title in boxing to the Kingdom of Thailand where the fight was broadcast live.
