PINOY IM DIMAKILING BEATS POLISH GM IN INDONESIA CHESS By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Sat, 13 Oct 2012 Manila -- Filipino International Master (IM) Oliver Dimakiling (ELO 2470) defeated Polish Grandmaster Mikhail Krasenkow (ELO 2636) to post for his second straight win in as many rounds to share the lead along with 13 others in the ongoing $55,000 Indonesian Open Chess Championship (IOCC) 2012 on Saturday at the Puri Ratna Convention Hall, Level 2, Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia. Also with 2.0 points were GM Merab Gagunashvili of Georgia, GM Xiu Deshun of China, GM Dao Thien Hai of Vietnam, GM Surya Shekhar Ganguly of India, GM Richard Bitoon of the Philippines, GM Lu Shnaglei of China, IM Nguyen Doc Hoa of Vietnam, IM Sachdev Tania of India, GM Dmitry Bocharov of Russia, GM Avetik Grigoryan of Armenia, GM Marat Dzhumaev of Uzbekistan, and IM Wang Chen of China. However, GM Oliver Barbosa and GM Mark Paragua of the Philippines bowed to their second round opponents. The Taytay, Rizal native Barbosa lost to countryman Bitoon while the Bulacan ace Paragua yielded to IM Tania. Asia's First GM Eugene Torre settled for a truce with GM Viorel Iordachescu of Moldova to raise his total 1.5 points along with GM John Paul Gomez. With the loss, GM Barbosa and GM Paragua remains at 1.0 point together with FM Paulo Bersamina and FM Haridas Pascua.
