SORSINGYU SILENT BUT DANGEROUS PhilBoxing.com Sat, 13 Oct 2012 It has been proven in history that silent men are like still waters, it runs deep and is dangerous. Like other men before him, AJ ?Bazooka? Banal?s opponent for his second attempt at a world championship could just be that or even more. Although he is just 24 years young, Pungluang Sorsingyu of Thailand is a veteran of 43 fights. Looks can be deceiving and with an aura projecting calmness and a face even younger than his years, boxing fans could not help but be weary of Sorsingyu?s competence to upset the highly regarded Filipino Banal. Sorsingyu who fights under Thailand?s biggest promoter Onesongchai Promotions now run by the younger Pariykorn Ratanasuban, has won the WBC Youth World Bantamweight Championship and has defended his title 4 times. Proof that he is no stranger to championship pressure. In addition to his WBC title, Pungluang Sorsingyu has also captured the WBO Youth Asia Pacific Bantamweight Title that he defended it 6 times. He also was the interim WBO Oriental Bantamweight Champion defending the title twice and has recently captured the regular WBO Oriental 118 lbs. title via 5th round KO of Ricardo Roa of the Philippines. The Thai reportedly has both boxing skills and power as prove in his previous fights and more than 2 handfuls of those opponents being Filipinos. Sorsingyu has a high 63% KO percentage and of the 15 Filipinos he has fought, he has KO?d 11 with none of them going past the 7th round and 7 of which not seeing the end of the 2nd round. Sorsingyu?s amazing resume surely cannot be taken lightly by Banal and his team, as this fight could be decided either on the earliest of rounds or the deepest and more dangerous moments of the fight. Sorsingyu, according to reports has been heavily training in an army base right after he did his media promotional tour in the Philippines last month. Pinoy Pride XVII Philippines vs The World WBO World Bantamweight Championship is happening at the SM Mall of Asia ARENA on October 20, 2012. Tickets are available at all SM City Customer Care Counters and SM City Cinemas nationwide. |
