DONAIRE READY FOR ANYTHING NISHIOKA BRINGS By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Tue, 28 Aug 2012 WBO/IBF super bantamweight champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire is ready for anything that Japanese WBC super champion Toshiaki Nishioka brings when they clash for the World Boxing Council?s coveted Diamond Belt at the Home Depot Center in Carson City on October 13. Donaire and Nishioka were present at a jam-packed press conference at the Crystal Ballroom of the Millenium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles on Monday which Top Rank promoter described as ?sensational with a huge attendance. Nonito was terrific, the Japanese boy was terrific and the fight is going to be really worthwhile.? Arum said the Nishioka clash ?is going to be a very, very tough fight for Nonito. Nishioka is a tremendous fighter, very well schooled but those are the kind of fighters that Nonito has to beat to get the recognition that he desires as being one of the great fighters in the world.? Donaire is currently ranked No.4 in the Ring Magazine pound-for-pound list with no No.1, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr joint No. 2 and Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez at No. 3. Donaire told the Manila Standard ?I think it?s a great fight because he (Nishioka) is the WBC champion and since its for the Diamond Belt it would be great,? even as Ring Magazine also announced that the the Ring?s junior featherweight championship belt will also be on the line.. While conceding that the southpaw Nishioka ?is a very dangerous opponent who has the power and we both can knock out opponents with one punch.? Donaire said ?there?s both speed and power on the line and that?s how dangerous he is. But the four division world champion insisted said that while Nishioka ?is considered good, I am better.? He said if the talented Japanese southpaw ?wants to brawl, I?m ready to brawl. If he wishes to box, I?m ready to box? even as he told Fight Hype.com that on October 13 they ?will see who is faster and who is stronger.? Donaire said he didn?t have a problem facing a southpaw Donaire. He noted ?I have always been good with southpaws. The first time I ever found it difficult with southpaws was when I sparred with Manny Pacquiao which was the last time I had difficulty in fighting southpaws because I figured out how to fight them. Manny taught me a little bit.? World Boxing Council president Don Jose Sulaiman earlier confirmed that the Donaire_Nishioka title fight ?will be for the WBC Diamond Belt? the first of which was won by ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao when he scored a 12th round TKO over Miguel Cotto. Sulaiman said ?both fighters deserve it? pointing out that Nishioka ?is a great champion and so is Donaire.? Sulaiman said he expects ?a helluva fight? and plans to be at special ringside at the Home Depot Center. Arum responded by stating it?s good that the WBC president will be at the fight and told us ?Not only are people in America anticipating this fight but all over Asia. The top fighter in Japan fighting one of the top fighter in the Philippines, that?s really a spectacle for the Asians.?
