NISHIOKA LOOKING FORWARD TO DONAIRE UNIFICATION TITLE FIGHT By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 27 Aug 2012 WBC super bantamweight champion Toshiaki Nishioka of Japan is looking forward to his unification bout for the Diamond Belt against WBO/IBF champion Nonito ?The Filipino Flash? Donaire at the Home Depot Center in Carson City, California on September 13. Nishioka and Donaire will meet once again at the kick-off luncheon news conference on Tuesday, Manila Time, at the Crystal Ballroom of the Millenium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Nishioka was at ringside when Donaire won the IBF title from South Africa?s Jeffrey Mathebula by a unanimous twelve round decision after breaking the jaw of Mathebula in two places. Nishioka entered the ring after the decision was announced and later told the Manila Standard he wanted to fight Donaire and predicted it would be a great fight. It will be a battle for supremacy, mano a mano, in a sensational night of championship boxing when Donaire(29-1, 18 KOs), a native of General Santos City who lives in the Bay Area of San Leandro, Calif., risks his WBO/IBF junior featherweight world titles against WBC Diamond Belt super bantamweight champion Nishioka(39-4-3, 24 KOs), of Hyogo, Japan. In the co-feature which is expected to be an explosive showdown, Brandon ?Bam Bam? Rios (30-0-1, 21 KOs), from Oxnard, Calif., will take on Mike Alvarado (33-0, 23 KOs) of Denver, where undefeated records and world rankings will be at risk in this WBO Latino junior welterweight title bout. The Manila Standard has learned that Nishioka has been training for several months and has been sparring with world-rated Mexicans for what he himself has indicated will be a tough, competitive fight. Donaire told us he doesn?t need to train more than six to seven weeks and expressed confidence that he would be ?more than 100 percent ready by the time the fight takes place.? He noted that while there are others who train for three pr four months that he trains for six weeks, adding ?I train hard and have no distractions or vices.?
