ALA ‘unaware’ of Nietes fight vs. Rachman
By Rommel C. Manlosa PhilBoxing.com Wed, 25 Oct 2006
BOXING patron Antonio Aldeguer has expressed worry over reports his ward Donnie Nietes is going after the IBF strawweight title against Indonesian Muhammad Rachman next Saturday in Borneo, Indonesia.
Internet reports announced that Rachman-Nietes 12-round IBF 105 lbs.
championship this month, but Aldeguer says he knows nothing about it.
“I’ve been hearing this report for the past six months and but I never got a word from the promoter. I am tired of waiting. I received no formal offers for Nietes to fight in Indonesia,” Aldeguer told Sun.Star Cebu last night.
Lost chances
Aldeguer added that since the previous promoter offered them the fight, Nietes had lost a lot of opportunities to fight big cards that includes a possible stint in the US.
“You see, Nietes had lost a lot of opportunities to fight because of this waiting game. Just when Nietes had fought, it was back in August in a small card because we don’t want him to gamble because of this offer, but nothing came along that way, so I am getting tired of hearing about it,” Aldeguer said.
Offers
Nietes is scheduled to fight for the vacant WBO Asia-Pacific minimumweight title against Indonesian Heri Amol on Nov. 26 in Danao City Civic Center.
“But if we will get offers before that (WBO) fight, we might reconsider it. But first we need to see the contract before we will think about it,” added Aldeguer.
