By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 27 Jul 2012

Undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr?s prison term has helped Robert ?The Ghost? Guerrero fight WBC Silver champion Selcuk Aydin of Turkey for the world welterweight title in San Jose, California on Sunday, Manila Time.
In a statement the World Boxing Council headed by president Don Jose Sulaiman said ?this title was specially approved because WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr remains in jail in Nevada on a domestic violence case.
Guerrero is the same fighter who kept calling out ?Fighter of the Decade? Manny Pacquiao but was effectively ignored.
The WBC reports that there is ?great enthusiasm in Turkey and the whole Middle East that have been for years expecting a professional champion of the world.?
The World Boxing Council noted that Amir Khan and Prince Naseem Hamed ?have Arab blood but they have lived ion England since they were kids.?
Despite claims by the WBC that Aydin who was born and raised and still lives in Istanbul, Turkey. Boxrec.com statistics indicate that the Turkish fighter resides in Hamburg, Germany.
The 28 year old Aydin who is nicknamed ?Mini-Tyson? is undefeated with a record of 23-0 with 17 knockouts.
He won the WBC Silver title with a twelve round split decision over Romanian southpaw Ionut Dan Ion on June 5, 2010 and retained the title in a rematch which Aydin won by a unanimous twelve round decision on November 26 last year.
The 29 year old Guerreo has a record of 29-1-1 with 18 knockouts and is coming off a twelve round unanimous decision over Australia?s Michael Katsidis in which he captured the WBO and WBA lightweight interim titles on April 9 last year.
