WBC SUSPENDS HEAVYWEIGHT CHISORA INDEFINITELY

The World Boxing Council has suspended British heavyweight Dereck Chisora indefinitely for his behavior during the weigh-in for his title fight against champion Vitali Klitschko and his post-fight brawl with former champion and fellow Brit David Haye.
Chisora slapped Klitschko at the official weigh-in and spat water at his brother Wladimir when the fighters were in the center of the ring for the referee?s instructions.
WBC president Don Jose Sulaiman who was upset with Chisora over his actions said it was "one of the worst behaviors ever by a professional."
He suggested that the British heavyweight seeks anger management treatment before the WBC considers whether or not to lift the suspension.
Sulaiman also indicated the WBC would look to impose a "serious" fine on the Zimbabwe-born fighter which some sources have indicated could be as high as $50,000.
The WBC will drop Chisora who was ranked No. 14 from its official rankings.
In its statement the WBC said it is ?absolutely condemning behaviors that are not to be accepted in boxing under any circumstances and will act as soon as it can proceed to impose the fines and sanctions as we consider necessary. Boxers are gentlemen and show to the world an example of honor and fair play when, after a tremendous battle, they go to the centre of the ring to pay respect to each other.?
Sulaiman said "Dereck Chisora is not going to tarnish the sport for those born in the humblest beds, who become sports heroes of the world to live a life of dignity and pride."
