WBC CARES CONTINUES TO SHARE By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Fri, 17 Feb 2012  The World Boxing Council under its president Don Jose Sulaiman continues to make sure that the WBC Cares program continues to share. In what was described as ?another emotional visit? several great former champions visited the residents of the ?Fundacion Renace I.A.P.?, private care institution that for 14 years has helped rehabilitate patients with alcohol and / or drug abuse problems. The institution provides the residents with guidance, orientation and comprehensive support so the co-dependent regains his physical, emotional and spiritual well-being . The head of the foundation, Maria Eugenia Zu?iga, thanked the WBC for the presence of the WBC Cares Coordinator, Christiane Manzur and such great boxing champions as Carlos Zarate, Ultiminio Ramos, Cesar Bazan, Maria Elena Villalobos and Lupe Pintor. The WBC told us the fighters ?shared their experiences with their hearts opened, leaving the residents with a deep message: ?where there?s a will, there?s a way?. Carlos Zarate, former world bantamweight champion who had a remarkable record of 66 wins with 63 knockouts as against only 4 defeats was the first one who spoke to all the residents and remembered ?the living hell he passed through for almost 12 years when he was an alcoholic and drug addict.? Zarate, ?with tears on his eyes, shared his experience of that ?friendly hand? that helped him find a new way: his family and the organization that saw him became champion, the World Boxing Council, headed by Don Jose Sulaiman.? He was followed by Lupe Pintor, Ultiminio Ramos, Cesar Bazan and Maria Elena Villalobos, all of whom in an emotional way and aware of the battle these youngsters fight every day, ?encouraged them to keep going, not to let themselves be defeated and to look for that light at the end of the dark tunnel which is full of hope, peace and there is a chance for a new beginning.?
