LANDON DONOVAN OUTSHINES KEANE IN EVERTON DRAW WITH ASTON VILLA
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Sun, 15 Jan 2012

Two LA Galaxy superstars were on either side of the pitch in the English Premier League clash between Everton and Aston Villa on Saturday but Mark Ryan of the Daily Mail reports ?We expected the brightest star from the LA Galaxy to be Aston Villa?s loan signing, Robbie Keane but instead it was his Californian team-mate Landon Donovan who glittered for Everton and created their equalizer with a pass of brilliant simplicity.?
Victor Anichebe who came off the bench had hardly touched the ball when Donovan cut in from the left in the 68th minute and in the words of Ryan ?shredded Villa's defense with exquisite timing? allowing Anichebe who came in as a substitute in the 61st minute to slam one into the Aston Villa goal on the 69th minute.
Anichebe who has long been sidelined because of injury fired past Villa goalkeeper Shay Given with ease to even the score at 1-1 after Darren Bent who scored off a pass from Stephen Ireland in the 58th minute.
Although Keane who came on later in the game for Aston Villa had two opportunities to grab the glory from Donovan, the resolute defending of John Heitanga denied him on both occasions.
But Villa manager Alex McLeish wasn?t at all disappointed with Keane?s performance. He said ?Robbie looked bright when he came on. I never started him because he hasn't been playing for two or three weeks and he has been traveling across the pond.?
Everton manager Manager David Moyes had nothing but praise for the on-loan Donovan. He said ?It was the cross from Landon and his pass for the goal. He was the best player on the pitch. To run for 90 minutes and not be taken off is a testament to him.
'I'm going to give him a couple of days off so we don't burn him out before he goes back to LA in February.'
