GREEN READY FOR BIG COMEBACK By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 30 Nov 2011  Australia?s Danny Green is ready for what his fans believe will be a big comeback from the battering he took at the hands of former world champion Antonio Tarver that forced him to retire at the end of the 9th round on instructions from his corner last July. Boxing writer Jonathan Cook of the West Australian reports Green is adamant his 9th round beating by Tarver has not affected the trademark confidence which helped him win titles at super-middleweight, light-heavyweight and cruiserweight. Green was quoted by Cook as saying ?Coming off a huge loss it could?ve affected my confidence but it hasn?t.I?m just looking forward to the opportunity of getting out there and putting on a great show for the fans and the people who?ve paid to see world-class boxing.? The fight will be staged at Challenge Stadium in Perth with respected international referee Bruce McTavish who lives in Angeles City in the Philippines serving as one of the judges in the fight. WA?s popular pugilist had carried plenty of fluid on to the scales against Tarver - weighing in at a career high 90.3kg - but claims to have added muscle to his frame for his clash with Poland?s big hitter. Green said he was feeling relaxed and focused ahead of a fight that some experts believe will reignite or end his career. Cook quoted the 38 year old Green who said ?I don?t have a lot of emotion. I try to be as cold as possible.? He said ?I?m just focused on what I have to do. Wlodarczyk is a very imposing figure and a very imposing opponent and the current world champion, so I?ve just got to be cool and do my job. We know Wlodarczyk is very confident? we know he thinks he?s going to take me out in the later rounds and be able to come on strong and impose his will, his size, his power and his strength. But I?m not just going to lie down.?.? Also on the big fight card, Indonesia?s Chris John will make the 15th defense of his World Boxing Association featherweight super title against Stanyslav Merdov and Will Tomlinson will take on Mexico?s Alan Herrera for the vacant International Boxing Organisation super-featherweight title.
