PINOY PRIDE 6 BOXERS STAGE PUBLIC SPARRING SESSION AT PARK MALL By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Sat, 28 May 2011 Mandaue City, Cebu ? The boxers from the ALA Gym of Cebu scheduled to see action this June 11 had a public sparring session at the Parkmall this Saturday afternoon to promote the PINOY PRIDE 6: GRUDGE REMATCH fight card. Rey ?BoomBoom? Bautista sparred for two rounds each with stable mates Rey Melligen and Genesis Servania. Bautista looked sharp and ready to go twelve rounds. He is scheduled to fight Heriberto Ruiz of Mexico in an emotionally charged rematch at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel. Bautista vs Ruiz will be for the IBF International featherweight title. Bautista spoke to the appreciative crowd and thanked them for supporting the sport of boxing. Together with the champ Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes, the boxers posed for photos with the fans. Pagara won the WBO Youth Asia-Pacific jr.welterweight title in Bacolod City by knocking out Deo Njiku of Tanzania. Pagara is scheduled to face another Mexican, Juan Carlos Gallegos in the undercard. Pagara was initially scheduled to face Javier Monserrate of Puerto Rico. This will be the first time Pagara will fight a Mexican fighter. Baluarte is penned to face Romeo Jakosalem this July. In what would be of the most interesting sparring session match-up, two time world strawweight champion Katsunari Takayama of Japan traded mitts for two rounds with Edrin ?The Sting? Dapudong of the Braveheart stable of North Cotabato. It was lively, fast paced and punctuated by furious exchanges. Dapudong, a former WBC Silver flyweight titlist, is scheduled to fight Benja ?The Rhinoceros? Loemoli of Indonesia in his second outing under an ALA fight card. Dapudong (21W-3L, 12 KO?s) formally signed a multiyear contract with ALA Promotions in a press conference held at the Diamond Suites and Residences last April. The fans got to see a lot of stars as grizzled veteran Michael Domingo sparred with PABA Bantamweight champion Roli Gasca, OPBF flyweight champion Rocky Fuentes sparred with Marjhun Macahilig, Mark Bernaldez, who is making his pro debut in PINOY PRIDE 6, sparred with Boyce Sultan, Roma Rate had another two round session with Zaldy Aroa and Reymund Tabogon versus Jorin Labordo opened the festivities. More than just promoting their fight cards, ALA Promotions? public sparring sessions has helped to bring boxing to a mainstream audience.
