Boxer with prosthetic leg makes for an interesting undercard By Rene Bonsubre, Jr. PhilBoxing.com Sat, 28 Aug 2010 ?I just love boxing.? This was Naozumi Tsuchiyama?s straightforward answer as to why he fights despite having a prosthetic right leg. The 28 year old Japanese has seven fights under his belt here in the Philippines. He debuted in 2006, a four round unanimous decision win over Jurland Ceniza in Bukidnon. He now has five wins, three by knockout, with one loss and a draw. ?I?ve had a prosthesis since I was three years old.? He attributes his condition to a birth defect. But he has been boxing for the past ten years already. ?My leg is made of carbon fibre. It is light and I can move well.? Tsuchiyama will face Marlon Alta (2W-2L, 1 KO) of Gen. Santos City in a six round welterweight battle tonight at the Waterfront Hotel in Lahug, Cebu City as part of the Philippines vs the World fight card. His only loss was in 2007, by six round unanimous decision to William George in Pasay City. He also practices Kendo, a Japanese martial art of sword fighting which is based in their country?s traditional swordsmanship. Make no mistake, Tsuchiyama can fight. Last July in Lutopan, Cebu, he knocked out Jojo Arnado in a single round. His presence gives fans a good reason to go to the venue early and watch the preliminary contests. Rey ?BoomBoom? Bautista (28W-2L, 21 KO?s) vs Alejandro ?Zorrito? Barrera (20W-3L, 13 KO?s) of Mexico (featherweights 10 rounds) will be the much anticipated main event.
