Another Filipino sharing the colors of Kuwait, Allen Cuartero overcame Chan Keng Kwang of Singapore 9-7 while Olver Medenilla, sporting the UAE colors upset fancied Jeong Young Hwa of Korea 9-6. Israel Rota of the Philippines who is representing host nation Qatar stunned defending World Pool Champion Daryl Peach of Britain in a pulsating match, 9-8 while youthful Lee Van Corteza, the US Open champion routed Syria?s Al Khadar 9-1 in a first round match.
