VALERO SCORES 27TH STRAIGHT KNOCKOUT WIN AGAINST DEMARCO By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Sun, 07 Feb 2010 Knockout artist Edwin Valero of Venezuela retained his WBC lightweight title and scored his 27th straight knockout victory when challenger Antonio DeMarco of Tijuana quit on his stool at the end of the 9th round in a fight that saw Valero totally dominated the young Mexican challenger at Arena Monterrey, Monterrey, Nuevo Le?n, Mexico Saturday night. Valero, who sustained a big cut on his forehead in the second round from a wayward DeMarco elbow, attacked DeMarco without let up the entire night throwing punches from all angles not far in style to the current pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao until De Marco, who tried to box smart and showing moments of success, succumbed to exhaustion and lost his will power to continue. "The world has seen the ascent of Edwin Valero tonight," the Venezuelan warrior who is nicknamed 'El Inca' who fought all over the world except in America where he is currently banned from fighting due to a medical condition, told the TV interviewer after the fight. All three judges gave Valero a wide margin at the end of the 9th round with identical scores of 89-81.
