TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES WIN TWO GOLDS

Track and field hopes delivered two gold medals at the start of competition in the 25th Southeast Asian Games in Laos.
Arniel Ferrera ruled the hammer throw with a heave of 61.6 meters while Rosie Villarito won the gold medal in the women’s javelin throw.
A dominant figure in the hammer throw Ferrera even when not at his best was able to win the gold medal in the last Thailand open easily overcoming the challenge of the top Thai competitors.
A gold medal winner since the 2005 SEA Games, Ferrera have the track and field contingent of Go Teng Kok an excellent start even as the Philippines tried desperately to overcome host nation Laos which had consigned the Philippines to a lowly seventh place in the overall medal standings.
