LLANOS BEATS ALCOS BY UD IN DALAGUETE

PhilBoxing.com

Nelson Llanos beat Julius Alcos by ten round unanimous decision in the main event of the Friday Nights Live Fight Card held in Dalaguete, Cebu. This bout was initially reported to be a Philippine jr.flyweight title fight but due to technicalities was downgraded to a non-title contest.

The fight was a well fought, fast paced brawl. A clash of heads in round two opened a cut on the top of Llanos’ forehead and Alcos was deducted a point. Llanos steadily piled up points during infighting sequences as the rounds progressed. Alcos stepped up his offense in the 7th round resulting in furious exchanges until the end of the bout. Llanos is rated No.1 in RP junior flyweight rankings while Alcos is No.3. The scores read: 95-94, 96-93 and 97-92.

In the supporting bouts flyweight Warlito Fare?as won by 5th round TKO over Roel Honor. Farenas exploited his longer reach and used a stiff jab to set up one-two combinations. He knocked down Honor in round 4 and continued to punish his opponent in the 5th prompting the referee to stop the fight at the 45 second mark of the round.

Weng Haya beat Richie Binueza by 2nd round TKO in their featherweight battle. Binueza sent Haya on the back foot in the opening round but a well timed right in the second round sent Binueza sprawling on the canvas. The referee did not bother to count and called the medical personnel at ring side. Official time- 39 seconds of round 2. Binueza recovered from the knockout a few minutes later.

Superbantamweight Ramil Soco won by third round KO over Roldan Malinao. The southpaw Soco scored a knockdown in round 2 and in the 3rd a left hook to the ribs sent Malinao down in his own corner. The referee reached the ten count at the 2:34 mark.

Reil Mandate relied on a steady body attack to beat Jayme Bermiso by six round unanimous decision in their flyweight bout. The scores: 60-54, 60-54 and 59-56.

Lt. flyweights Jesus Mercado versus Jeffrey Pulvera resulted in a first round technical draw due to a clash of heads that opened a deep gash on the left eyelid of Pulvera.

Alde de Zosa beat Arnel Adan by four round unanimous decision in their lightweight bout. The scorecards were 39-97 for all three judges. Juan Purisima won by 4 round majority decision over Jason Casimiro in another lf.flyweight contest. The scores: 39-37 on two judges for Purisima and one judge had it 38 all.

The fight card was held last Friday evening at the Dalaguete Sports Complex. This was the second episode of a series of fight cards initiated by promoter Sammy Gello-ani and the Omega boxing gym to search for and develop potential world champions.
