PACQUIAO TURNS AROUND, HONORS CONTRACT WITH SOLAR

PhilBoxing.com

Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao has announced an hour ago through his lawyer Franklin Gacal that he is honoring his contract with Solar Entertainment Corp. to air his fights in the Philippines.

The decision was reached after he sat down with Solar executives in Los Angeles. In his statement, Pacquiao said that "after our thorough study and evaluation with Solar Entertainment Corp., it was proven that the contract related to the [Philippine] TV rights of my fights is valid and binding and no one violated it."

Pacquiao's latest announcement is a complete turnaround from his surprising announcement on Mar. 18 when he said he was rescinding his contract with Solar Sports and is giving the rights to giant network ABS-CBN to air his fights in the Philippines.

Below is the full statement by Pacquiao read by his lawyer Frankin 'Jeng' Gacal which was broadcast by GMA 7:

Maraming salamat at mabuhay kayong lahat.

(Your servant Manny Pacquiao wished to inform everyone that after our thorough study and evaluation with Solar Entertainment Corp., it was proven that the contract related to the [Philippine] TV rights of my fights is valid and binding and no one violated it.

Because of this, I sincerely apologize if you were confused as to where will my upcoming fight with Ricky Hatton will be shown. What happened was the result of a misunderstanding between Solar Entertainment Corp. and MP Promotions. Hopefully everyone will understand and I count on your never-ending support and prayer on all my fights.

From this day onward I want to fully concentrate on my training for my upcoming fight on May 2.

Thank you very much and Mabuhay everyone!)
