CASAMAYOR, MARQUEZ MAKE WEIGHT

PhilBoxing.com

LAS VEGAS, NV -- Ring Magazine Lightweight Champion Joel Casamayor of Cuba and three-time world champion Juan Manuel Marquez of Mexico both came in at the lightweight limit of 135 lbs during this afternoon's weighin ceremony at the MGM Grand Garden Arena amidst the shouting, taunting and Mexican music.

Casamayor and Marquez will meet tomorrow night (Sunday morning in Manila) for the world lightweight supremacy.

First to tip to the weighing scale was Joel Casamayor quickly followed by Juan Manuel Marquez but as soon as the two were face to face with each other for the photo-op, Casamayor immediately begun taunting Marquez by shouting and pointing his index finger to the Mexican. Avoiding any untoward incident, the two were separated quickly.

Meanwhile, Sergio Mora struggled to make weight when came in two pounds over at 156 lbs in his first try but made the superwelter weight limit of 154 lbs when he came back to the weighing scale after an hour. Vernon Forrest tipped the scales at 154 lbs in his first try.

Oxnard based Mexican Victor Ortiz came in at 140 lbs while his Argentinian opponent Roberto Arrieta tipped in at 137.5 lbs.

Hot Indonesian featherweight prospect Daud Cino Yordan (21-0 16KOs) weighed in at 125 lbs while his opponent, Antonio Meza of Mexico, came in at 126 lbs.
