Tancontians starred 2025 Sports Heroes Night

IT WAS a starred Tancontians night at the 2025 Sports Heroes Night last September 28 at at the Grand Ball Room of The Royal Mandaya Hotel in Davao City.
Sambist Chino Sy Tancontian and his elder sister Sydney were the Sports Hero of the Year for the Male and Female, respectively.
Chino personally received his trophy while their aunt Myrna Larida took Sydney on her behalf.
Sydney had to leave today, September 29 for Indonesia to coach the Philippine team in the World Junior Sambo set October 1 to 7.
Their father Paolo Tancontian, the president of Pilipinas Sambo Federation Inc. was also present to receive the National Sports Association of the Year.
Ace T. Larida, the uncle and coach of the Tancontian siblings, is the Coach of the Year.
There were also plaques of recognitions and certificate of appreciations given by the Southern Sports Digest in coordination with the Davao Sportswriters Association
“The Greatest and the Latest sports icons, personalities, athletes, coaches, organizations and the like within the Davao region,” said Leonard Paul Palo of SSD.
Among those given with plaques of appreciation were Sen. Bong Go, POC President Bambol Tolentino, PSC Chairman Patrick Tolentino, former PSC Chairman Butch Ramirez, PARA swimmer Ernie Gawilan, chess player Henry Lopez, boxer Nesthy Petecio, PBA player Francis Escandor, cyclist Simon Servillon and former IBF World super flyweight champion Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas.
