BREIDIS PRESCOTT: A NEW STAR, AND FUTURE PACQUIAO FOE? By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Sun, 07 Sep 2008 Colombia's Breidis Prescott stormed into the boxing world today with a first-round demolition of the erstwhile undefeated Amir Khan right in the lion's den at the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, United Kingdom. The win was so impressive it left Khan reeling from two knockdowns, both from punches so powerful the victory has put the boxing world into notice. With the victory, Prescott moves to 20 wins, no loss with 18 KO's, and earns for himself the prestigious WBO Intercontinental lightweight crown. Also with the win, Prescott has just elevated himself into the big-league, making him an eligible future opponent for such big names as Manny Pacquiao, the winner of Juan Diaz-Michael Katsidis, the winner of Juan Manuel Marquez-Joel Casamayor, and the winner of Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman. Win or loss on December 6, Pacquiao should be fighting next as a lightweight or junior welterweight, and if Prescott gets himself one or two more victories after Khan, then surely he will be a name to reckon with for the world's most exciting fighter Pacquiao.
