FARENAS KOs THAI FOE IN LILOAN

PhilBoxing.com

Liloan, Cebu -- Michael Farenas knocked out Boonmee Sithsrivinitwitthayakom of Thailand at 1:18 of the 6th round with a border line body punch at the Liloan Municipal Gym here in what turned out to be a short night of boxing after almost all of the night's bouts ended in knockouts.

Farenas, notorious for darting out power shots south of the border, was repeatedly warned by the referee for low blows and was finally deducted a point because of it early in the 6th round. The accumulated body punches, legit or otherwise, finally did the Thai in when he was unable to beat the referee's count after a 6th round knockdown. In his last fight in the US, Farenas won by TKO over Baudel Cardenas in the 3rd round when his Mexican opponent could not continue after receiving a vicious low blow.

Farenas was cut early in the fight with an accidental headbutt but was clearly dominating his Thai opponent who also resorted to some dirty tactics by pushing, shoving and at one time throwing Farenas to the canvas with a wrestling maneuver.

Farenas, a protege of WBO bantamweight champ Gerry Pe?alosa who also graced the event, has now improved his record to 22-2-2 with 19 KOs.

In the main undercard, Jonathan Baat (6-3-1 2KOS) of the RWS Stable, who beat erstwhile undefeated ALA fighter Joseph Omanz in his last fight, made target practice out of the overmatched Daniel Diolan of Zamboanga City before stopping Diolan in the 2nd round.

A string of abbreviated knockout victories were registered by RWS warriors against the Leolet fighters of Leonil Lazarito of Bukidnon. First to fall was Leolet's Randy Megri?os when he was KOed by RWS' Adonis Aguello in 5th, Elmar Francisco followed with a trashing from Jason Siaton in the 2nd round and finally Renan Branzuela collapsed on the canvas after a picture perfect left cross to the body by Rodulfo Sumabong, also in the 2nd round.

Other results:

- Andy Seneres won by UD over Jaime Bermiso in 4 rounds
- Kevin de la Cruz Majority Draw with Ramelo Estra
- Dave Baliguat TKO2 over Aljered Tu?acao
- Jherpaul Valero Majority Draw with Ponce Villacura

The event, dubbed as 'Rambulan sa Liloan' was promoted by Manny Pacquiao's MP Promotions in association with Wakee Salud's RWS International and the Liloan Municipal government headed by Mayor Duke Frasco whose family owns the nationally famous Titay's Rosquellos of Liloan.
