Carl Jammes Martin Shines in Dominant US Debut Victory in Las Vegas

PhilBoxing.com

Filipino boxing sensation Carl Jammes Martin made a resounding statement in his highly anticipated United States debut, securing a unanimous decision victory over Nicaragua's Francisco Pedroza Portillo on Saturday night at the Michelob Ultra Arena. The fight, part of a stacked card headlined by Caleb Plant vs. Jose Armando Resendiz, marked a significant step in Martin's promising career.

The undefeated super bantamweight from Lagawe, Ifugao, showcased his exceptional talent and ring IQ throughout the eight-round contest. Martin scored the fight's lone knockdown in the 6th round clearly controlling the pace of the contest from the opening bell. While Pedroza Portillo proved to be a durable opponent, he was ultimately outboxed and outmaneuvered by the Filipino southpaw.

All three judges scored the bout clearly in favor of Martin, with tallies of 78-73, 78-73, and 79-72, reflecting his comprehensive dominance. Despite not securing a knockout, Martin's performance was a masterclass in controlled aggression and precision punching, delighting his growing legion of fans and impressing American boxing observers.

The victory extends Carl Jammes Martin's perfect professional record to 26 wins with 20 knockouts, and no losses or draws. This successful US debut is a crucial milestone for the 26-year-old, positioning him for bigger opportunities in the competitive super bantamweight division. Fans and pundits alike will be eagerly watching to see what comes next for "Wonder Boy" as he continues his ascent on the international boxing stage.

Pedroza Portillo, whose record now stands at 19-13-2, displayed commendable toughness but was ultimately outmatched by Martin's superior skill set. The fight served as an excellent proving ground for Martin, demonstrating his ability to perform under the bright lights of a major Las Vegas event.

Martin who racked up 23 straight wins in the Philippines, started his campaign in the Americas last year winning two bouts in Mexico both by knockouts, against Anthony Jimenez Salas in Culiacan in September and Ruben Tostado Garcia in Tijuana in September, before debuting in the US in a high-profile card.
