ORTHODOX Giemel “Pistolero’ Magramo is the new Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation super flyweight champion after beating Judy “Stingray” Flores by split decision last night, October 20, Sunday at the Okada Manila Hotel and Casino in Paranaque.
The 30-year-old Magramo of Paranaque City survived a knockdown in the last and 12th round caused by an overhand right on the head by Flores.
But Magramo still won by a split decision after two judges Silvestre Abainza [115-112] and Edwin Barrientos [114-113] both signed for Magramo.
Third judge Alberto Dulalas saw it for Flores at 115-112.
“Sayang kaayo, we lost the fight,” said Dexter Tan of Sanman Boxing team.
A rematch is being considered by Team Flores.
“We haven't actually talked, we just want a rematch,” said JC Manangquil, president of Sanman Boxing team.
Magramo now has 30 wins with 23 knockouts against four losses while Flores suffered his 3rd loss against 14 wins.
Magramo also recently grabbed the Philippine super flyweight title from Denmark Quibido of Misamis Oriental by unanimous decision last March 24, 2024 at Okada Manila.
Meanwhile, Benny “The Bull” Canete of Siquijor also scored a split decision victory against former OPBF champion Edward Heno in the undercard.
The 24-year-old Canete now has 12 wins against two loses while Heno suffered his sixth loss against 16 wins and six draws.
The event was presented by “Blow by Blow” and promoted by former world champion Manny Pacquiao of MP Promotions.
