"La Guerrera Torres" A legend close to Immortality

PhilBoxing.com

The Mexican Ana "La Guerrera" María Torres is a strong candidate to enter to the Canastota International Hall of Fame in 2024 in the modern women's boxing category after sharing a nomination with legends such as Momo Koseki (Japan), Susi Kentikian (Armenia), Anne Sophie Mathis (France), Mari Jo Sanders (USA), Ina Menzer (Germany) and Esmeralda Moreno (Mexico) among others but "La Guerrera" Torres must have a guaranteed position in this election or the next ones due to her extraordinary professional career and his life outside the ring.

Ana Maria Torres made her professional debut in the world of boxing on July 3, 1999, facing the now legendary Mariana Juárez in the legendary Arena México, winning by split decision in four rounds.

Torres is part of history as one of the best boxers in Latin America and the world. Her legend, which began with three fights against "Barby" Juárez, grew with her 28 wins, 16 by knockouts, against three defeats and three draws.

"La Guerrera" also went through Taekwondo, a sport where Mexico is among the best in the world, but due to expense situations she did not continue. One day the path of boxing appeared in her life because his mother was a devoted fan of the current legend of Mexico for the world, Julio Cesar Chávez and from there he began to practice boxing, he took a liking to her and began to make her great story in world women's boxing.

On July 30, 2012 at the Jorge Cuesy Serrano Arena in Tuxtla Gutierrez in Mexico, two world icons of women's boxing faced off on one side "La Guerrera Torres" and on the other corner Jackie "La Princesa Azteca" Nava being at stake for the first time. once in a women's fight the extraordinary Diamond Belt of the World Boxing Council on an iconic night where it was Ana María Torres who made history with a unanimous decision by the judges.

In her career she faced Kwang Ok Kim (North Korea), Dahiana Santana (Dominican Republic), Myung Ok Ryu (North Korea), Esmeralda Moreno (Mexico), Usanakorn Thawilsuhannawang (Thailand), Alessia Graff (Germany) and Naoko Yamaguchi (Japan) among others.

From 1999 to 2012 she achieved 28 wins (16KOs), 3 draws and 3 losses with 17 world title fights.

Today Ana Maria Torres is a mother of two children, an icon of female boxing and Mexican women. She defeated all the adversities in her childhood and youth to reach the top of world boxing today after the recent votes for induction into the Canastota International Hall of Fame she is closer to her immortality although she is already a legend for always.

Ana Maria feels proud to be one of the pioneers in women's boxing and recognizes that it was not an easy path but her discipline, dedication, perseverance and effort took her to the top of boxing, being part of the reality of current women's boxing and maintains that "Discipline is the basis of success."
