BREAKING NEWS: BANAL TO FIGHT FOR WBA TITLE
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Mon, 19 May 2008

AJ “Bazooka” Banal, the hard-hitting protege of the famed ALA Gym of respected boxing patron Tony Aldeguer will fight for the WBA super flyweight title left vacant by Alexander Munoz who dropped a close decision to Christian Mijares over the weekend in Mexico.
Youthful Michael Aldeguer who has assumed the mantle of his father in the boxing business said he had been informed by well-known matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz that Banal will fight Panama’s Rafael “El Torito” Concepcion for the vacant crown.
Concepcion is a 25 year old southpaw with a record of 10-2-1 with 6 knockouts according to boxrec.com.
In his last fight on March 27, Concepcion scored a third round TKO over Jean Piero Perez. Banal is coming off a fourth round TKO win over WBC No.2 rated Caril Herrera of Uruguay at the Araneta Coliseum last April 6.
Editor's note: Banal and Concepcion will be fighting for the regular WBA super flyweight title as Mijares is now the WBA super flyweight super champion after his win against Munoz yesterday.
