Laguna pulls off another sweeping match day in 2022 PCAP online chess tourney By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Sun, 17 Jul 2022 MANILA---Laguna Heroes returned to their winning ways after scoring a pair of triumphs in the 2022 Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) online chess tournament virtually held at Chess.com Platform on Saturday night. The inaugural champion climbed at number 3 spot of the Northern Division standings with 20-13 win-loss slate following a 19-2 victory over Isabela and 12-9 beating of Rizal. "Rizal is a strong team. We were just lucky for beating them tonight. It was indeed a tight match," said Arena Grandmaster Dr. Fred Paez of Jolly Smile Dental Clinic, one of the four co-team owner of the Laguna Heroes that include Mr. David Nithyananthan of KALARO and Greatech Philippines, Inc., Engr. Benjamin Dy of SDC Global Choice Foods and Engr. Antonio Balinas of AC Balinas Construction and Steel Works. The Laguna Heroes held Isabela to just two points after the blitz category, 5-2, and sent the final blow in the last seven playing boards after sweeping them, 14-0, in the rapid play. Against Rizal, Laguna triumphed in the blitz game via full points from Woman International Master Ummi Fisabilillah, Fide Master Jose Efren Bagamasbad, Vince Angelo Medina and Arena Grandmaster Kimuel Aaron Lorenzo.
