Teves claims Sydney Chess Crown

MANILA---Johnny Teves of the Philippines won the 2021 Rooty Hill Open Blitz Chess Championship in Rootyhill, New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.
Teves finished with 9 wins and 2 loses for a total of 9 points, the same output of Erwin Plaza of Australia.
The Filipino woodpusher however, was proclaimed champion due to better tie break points.
Matthew Yan of Australia came third with 8.5 points followed by fourth placer Blair Manda of Australia with 7.5 points.
Fifth to eight places with 7 points each are Jordan Brown of Australia, Alaina Vincent of India, Tarek Rahman of Australia and Brett Cornforth of Republic of South Africa.
Ninth to tenth places with 6.5 points apiece are Noel Mangrobang of Australia and Chanya Rupasinghe of Australia.-Marlon Bernardino-
