The Bacoor City, Cavite based Canlas, also working in Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), tallied a total output of 51.5 points on account of 15 points in Chess 960 or Fischer Random, 17 points in Blitz format and 19.5 points in Rapid play to claim the over-all title and pocketed P10,000 for his efforts. "Masayang-masaya po ako bago matapos ang taong ito ay nag over-all champion ako dito sa 2020 Cabuyao City National Executive Chess Championship (Online Chess Tournament)," said the Santa Cruz, Marinduque and Pampanga native Canlas, a former mainstay of the multi-titled University of Santo Tomas Chess Team and a gold medalist of University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) chess meet. The 2-day (December 26 and 27, 2020) event was sponsored by Cabuyao City, Laguna mayor Atty. Rommel "Mel" A. Gecolea and supported by engr. Jonathan Mamaril of Oregon, USA, engr. Richard Sison of Ontario, Canada, Beau Essence Health and Beauty Inc., Greenshield Alcohol and Jolly Smile Dental Clinic is feature three event format, Blitz, Chess 960 or Fischer Random and Rapid. Engrineer Arjoe Loanzon, Electronics and Communication Graduate of Mapúa University, formerly named Mapúa Institute of Technology, came second with 48 total points on account of 16 points in Chess 960 or Fischer Random, 11 points in Blitz and 21 points in Rapid. Atty. Jason Maxino Bandal of Public Attorney's Office wound up third with 47 total points followed by fourth placer Canadian National Master Zulfikar Sali with 43.5 total points, fifth placer Reymond Baon, a Senior Lease Analyst at Cushman and Wakefield Philippines, Inc. with 43 total points and sixth placer Irwin Aton with total 42.5 points. Victor "Bong" Anas and Engineer Jimmy Ty Jr. posted total 42 points each to round up the top seventh and eight finishers of the online tilt by organized by PECA president Dr. Alfredo "Fred" Paez, who is also Assistant Executive Director for Southern Luzon of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP). On the other hand, Jezreel Lopez, Eduard Semergido, Rey De Guzman and Arena Grandmaster Dandel Fernandez tallied total output of 40.5, 38 and 38, respectively to land at ninth, tenth and eleventh placers. De Guzman won the top unrated category while Fernandez took the top OFW award. Other category winners were Capt.
